About
My work is a direct reflection of my journey exploring my queer identity as an artist of color and community activist. I create to be visible and to understand my inner spirituality, authenticity, and connection to the natural world, as well as to connect and show up for my Detroit community.
Embracing and acknowledging my own vulnerability, humanity and creativity has strengthened my clarity to use my art as a medium to express the challenges and harm marginalized groups withstand and endure daily such as death, grief, poverty, homophobia, lack of safe spaces and resources. My creative values and entrepreneurship is rooted in the liberation of all people through social resilience and revolution, art empowerment, and the preservation of BIPOC culture.
I incorporate elements of calmness, queerness, symmetry, Abstract Expressionism, surrealism, and healing into my work to combat the clutter, chaos, and unrest caused by our industrial society. I find my voice and passion through illustrating, painting, printmaking, mural work, sculpting, and community arts engagement. Additionally I am inspired by the diverse methods and limitless materials that can be used to create art with conventional and digital tools.
