Veiled Wilderness

A ghostly veil of what once was and what is there now

This creation began in my exploration of drawing course class and in that class, we did a unit on using charcoal. The medium of charcoal wasn't my favorite, but as I began to get into the groove of it, the process was intricate but rewarding. Seeing the small strokes, erasing, and blending throughout the piece makes up for the known difficulty of using this medium. Initially, my teacher did not want us to erase our markings in the beginning but instead draw over them. This explains the ghost-like sketches in the back. The process of start to finish is illustrated clearly in the piece, this idea inspired me to finish the still life in its entirety. originally the animal skull's nose was broken, but I somehow filled it in with my imagination. After a month of completion, I finally called this piece 'Veiled Wilderness'. I named it that because a veil has ghostlike transparency for its fabric, and wilderness because of the process of working with charcoal and its naturistic scene. The idea of imagination, a feeling of void or emptiness, mystery, and unification speaks when you look at this piece.

About

Hi I'm Shyann Hibbler and I am a creator, inspiring entrepreneur, and designer. I began drawing at very young age because it was an outlet for me to express my thoughts and feelings since I was very shy and quiet. Back at home, I don't come from a well off family, I live with my father and two sisters. Im grateful to have a dad who doesn't give up through adversities, aside from that, we have talent and drive that backs up to help each other improve and be successful in the future. Im grateful to have my Father who inspires me to do the work I need to do, that's what drives my creative process. I express my drawings by trying different mediums. Currently my favorite medium is hand drawing and digital art. My favorite type of style is line art and, anime, abstraction.
