Truck, 2021

Trucks is my most recent series of paintings. The series started as a collection of formal exercises that gained significance in a cumulative sense. It marked an important point in my evolution as an artist, since it brought a shift in my approach towards the process of building an image. Last year, I was investigating aspects related to the composition in a manner that was focusing on the content. I am more interested at the moment in how to create an image solely based on the properties of the image itself, like depth, composition, atmospheric perspective, dynamism. Furthermore, I became more interested in oil painting as a medium capable of translating aspects of everyday life in a pictorial space. I realized that one of the special features of this medium is the possibility to create a sense of narrative and anticipation, similar to the one produced by cinematography.
