The ring comes to show the magnificence of Arabian architecture.

Architecture is an art in itself, in my opinion. I think that Arabian architecture is one of the most beautiful and unique architectural designs. I love the contrast between the complexity and the flow of the building shapes.
Our assignment was to create jewelry inspired by Arabian nights, and I was blown away by the magical and beautiful palaces.
Because I come from a very different culture, I initially thought that it would be difficult for me to find something I can relate to. My first thought was that I couldn't create something that was also inspired by Arabian nights and that reflects me because of the cultural differences. I was wrong.
With the palace ring that I created and designed, I wanted to highlight the beautiful architecture of the palace while keeping the design very simple and clean.
I feel like we are missing out on a lot of beauty in this world because we restrict ourselves to a particular culture and mindset. My hope is that I will no longer restrict myself and that I will experience all the beautiful things this world has to offer.

Since I was a child, I have always loved creating things with different materials and in different arts. One of my favorite things to do when I was a little girl was to go outside and collect natural things I could use to create something beautiful. As I grew older, art became my favorite class. When I was in school I was very shy and always felt like an outsider that didn’t fit in. when I was in art class I suddenly found my place, a place in which I felt like I belonged and in which I could express myself. High school was the first time I encountered jewelry making, and I fell in love. When it came time to decide what I wanted to do with my life, I realized I was passionate about art. From there, goldsmith studies were a short step. Besides my passion for art, I am also passionate about nature. In my journey to find my line of design, I realized that nature was the inspiration for a lot of my art.

The Process

It was clear to me from the beginning that my project would be inspired by the architecture of the Arabian nights palaces. After I had decided on the design and that it was going to be a ring, the challenge was finding a way to make it light and not too heavy. The solution was to make the ring out of wax and make it in five segments, then hollow them out and attach them together. While it was a long process, I really enjoyed working with wax and I learned a great deal from it.
