Rage - Folding Screen
Despite Collection 2023
I made a folding screen for showing anger, or violence. A long time ago, folding screens were easily found in Asian countries. The meanings were usually about ‘blocking’ some things. Although it was a short experience in my teenage years, exposing anger always resulted in violence, creating a vicious cycle of escalating emotions. In the Rage, I wanted to show anger or violence as something that should be stopped or reduced with, and moreover, I wanted to show how this can result in the opportunity to mature.

About
I have a motto as an artist. “Make visuals.”
When I get the question, ‘what is art?’ I always answer that it is all about visuals. The one who appreciates them is the receiver of visuals, and the artists who create them are the sender. Art is interaction between the artist and the viewer.
When I create artwork, I focus on depicting invisible values that can be sensed without seeing. In my practice, I create visuals out of intangible things like scent, emotions, voice, etc. I want to serve my role as an artist who sends visual information through my artworks.
My processes are inspired by Abstract Expressionists and Automatism. My process I am guided by my subconscious will, and I describe my artistic process as one that feels natural, and automatic, the result will be the unique visuals created myself.
