I currently live in a big city and the only places in which I usually see nature is in parks. When I was drawing this, I was thinking about how nature would take back control of the city if all the humans suddenly left. The story behind this piece is basically all the people had suddenly left a massive city and nature is slowly starting to reclaim it because life always finds a way to survive and thrive. I think that this piece is also an important reminder of how people should be more mindful of how we treat the planet, and how we should take better care of the environment.

Every time I paint or draw, I am reminded of the cartoons that I would watch when I was younger. My goal is to become a visual storyteller and share my artwork and stories with others. Art and storytelling had inspired me to pursue a career in art, and I have hope that art can touch the lives of others and inspire them to do great things as well. My ultimate goal is to inspire others and share with them a side of the world that they hadn't seen yet.

The Process

The most exciting thing about drawing this piece was how I can depict a beautiful flowering plant coming out from the road of a large city. I've seen small blades of grass and sometimes wildflowers growing out from the cracks of sidewalks, but not the road. It was rather fun to draw a flower growing from the road.
