MFA Figure Study - Tan

MFA Figure Study

These pieces were created on an assignment for a figure drawing final. The assignment was a model of your choice, incorporating technical skills learned in the semester. At the time I was interning with the exhibitions team at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and working in a gallery with many early Greek and Italian figure statues. Being in the space outside of museum hours - the sculptures took on different lives. At some hours
they felt so lifeless, like stone or wallpaper place in the space. At other times they felt like a animate presence, like they were standing right beside you.

For this project, I decided to use them as my subject matter, and portray them in a way that separated them from their stone creation. These compositions work to aim at taking away the parts of them that lead to the lifeless feeling, and portray them in a way that breathes movement and life back into them.
