Emily, 2023

This character design was created specifically for one of my sound classes, as part of a project exploring a play from Emily's perspective. The artwork delves into Emily's character and aims to capture a significant moment through soundscaping. While this particular style of artwork is not commonly employed in my classes, I am gradually becoming more familiar with it.

While I intentionally opted for a simpler depiction of her hands, I dedicated meticulous attention to detail in portraying her face, making it the most intricately rendered facial drawing I have ever produced. Emily is depicted as a Filipino-American woman who spent her formative years in Indiana and Marinduque. In this artwork, she is portrayed in her eighties, donning watercolor-print pajamas and clutching her trusty cane, a constant companion she relies on.
