The Back Story

Yu Huang and I took the Central Line back to White city after seeing the exhibition at the Barbican. We fell asleep and leaned on each other. I was half asleep and felt our complete trust in each other. When we came back to the RCA White City campus, we were asked to make a memorable moment in a day by using the material our tutor prepared. I made a simple sculpture using tin foil and a black wrapping bag. The sculpture didn't feel very complete, like a scrap, so I drew it down with charcoal to give the drawing a completely different texture and feel, which I quite like.

If you ask a friend about me, they would say I am a designer doing graphic and branding design. I am also an artist. My artwork is related to relationships, memories, moments and nature. When I ask who I am, I don't know how to define it. I don't know myself very well.

I used to define myself in a specific relationship: I am a daughter, a lover, a friend and so on. Now I am quite open to perceiving and understanding rather than defining myself. If I say I'm a mushroom, then I am so.
