Dear. Blue

Despite Collection 2023

When I created this piece, I was struggling with the concept of my work. And I decided to just randomly paint with my favorite color blue. While I was painting this piece, I kept in mind beautiful scenes I could see around the world since I was using my favorite color. However, even with that optimistic mind, the mood I had during painting was depressed. The result can be thought of as beautiful, however, for me, I thought this piece had some sadness in it. Therefore, I titled this project Dear. Blue. Just like the phrase, I feel blue. Although with my favorite colors and scene, the atmosphere was sad. Whenever I show this piece to colleagues, some of them say it is beautiful, and some of them say it seems a little depressing. After critiques from them, I found out this will be my next movement in creating art. Create an abstract piece that results in varied opinions. I think that is the beauty of Abstraction.

About

I have a motto as an artist. “Make visuals.”
When I get the question, ‘what is art?’ I always answer that it is all about visuals. The one who appreciates them is the receiver of visuals, and the artists who create them are the sender. Art is interaction between the artist and the viewer.
When I create artwork, I focus on depicting invisible values that can be sensed without seeing. In my practice, I create visuals out of intangible things like scent, emotions, voice, etc. I want to serve my role as an artist who sends visual information through my artworks.
My processes are inspired by Abstract Expressionists and Automatism. My process I am guided by my subconscious will, and I describe my artistic process as one that feels natural, and automatic, the result will be the unique visuals created myself.
